There's only one bowl game every year that's a sure fire hit on entertainment value and it's not the BCS title game. It's the Holiday Bowl ... excuse me, the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl in San Diego which currently pits the 2nd place Pac-10 team against a 3rd place Big 12 opponent.
The Holiday Bowl's reputation ascended during the early 80's when the national championship caliber BYU teams were a consistent visitor to San Diego. Then there's the 1988 Oklahoma State team that hung 45 points in one half against Wyoming with a myriad of classic Barry Sanders runs.
In just it's third year as a bowl, the 1980 game between BYU and SMU ranks among the very best of all time. Down 45-25 with just over 4 minutes to go, Lavell Edwards' Cougars somehow managed to score 3 times in that short span resulting in what's arguably the best bowl game comeback ever.
Quality names in the video: Jim McMahon, Craig James (who rushed for 225 yards in this game), Eric Dickerson and my favorite Vai Sikahema.
