Finally out of the grasp of family, back home, and ready to watch football uninterrupted, without requests to watch the most boring movies on Earth.
What better game to kickoff the weekend than the Holiday Bowl which has provided some of the most memorably games in bowl history. There's Barry Sanders 5 TD game (watch here, and yes that is Mike Gundy as QB), BYU's many thrilling games and Texas' impressive comeback in 2001. I'm not sure tonight's matchup will rival any of these games, but it will surely live up to the Holiday Bowl reputation.
Why I'm picking Texas: Jamaal Charles and the Longhorns defensive line. I don't envision the Sun Devils stopping Charles that often, particularly late in the game when he averages more than 10 yards per carry (4th Q). Charles rushed for 736 yards in the last four games. I also anticipate Frank Okam and the rest of the d-line being able to put some solid pressure on Rudy Carpenter which has proved to be the best MO in beating ASU.
Why I might be wrong: I've been picking Dennis Erickson's team to lose all season.
