So here we are and here is your open thread for today's Military Bowl between Toledo and Air Force and today's Holiday Bowl Bowl between Cal and Texas. I already previewed both of those games (and the 33 other bowl games) in this story, but the cliff notes version of those previews is that it is a joke that Texas is ranked and it is hard not to root for a military academy in the Military Bowl. Also, I hate
Kickoff for the Military Bowl is at 4:30 p.m. ET and can it can be seen on ESPN (and ESPN3 if you are "at work"). The Holiday Bowl starts at 8 p.m. ET and can also be seen on ESPN or ESPN3.
One interesting potentially-developing story is whether or not this could be Mack Brown's last game at the helm of the Texas football program. There is no concrete reason to believe it is, other than a lot of rumors across the interwebs. But as the old adage goes, where there is smoke, there is (often) fire. Brown did recently address the rumors, saying that he would be at Texas "for a long time."
Enjoy, folks.

It isn't a comment about the teams playing in the bowls, but rather the bowl games themselves. The Holiday Bowl has been played since 1978. I haven't cross-checked every bowl, but I'm fairly sure no other bowl played yet has that sort of history.

Before yesterday, you had ranked teams like Boise State and TCU that had already played their bowl games, so I do not get the comment that the "real bowls" started yesterday. You have West Virginia in a BCS bowl basically by default and Virginia Tech will play Michigan in a BCS bowl when neither won should be in one at all. Some of the early bowl games were quite entertaining like Ohio-Utah State and San Diego State-Louisiana-Lafayette.

What do people think of Troy Calhoun's decision to fake the PAT at the end of the game? And remember, hindsight is 20/20.
