Blog Photo - Homer Bailey throws no-hitter against the GiantsHomer Bailey was only one at bat away from pitching a perfect game last night against the San Francisco Giants, and managed to complete a no hitter.

Bailey actually has the two most recent no-hitters in Major League Baseball, after throwing one in late 2012 as well.

Bailey only needed 102 pitches to get through 9 hitless innings, and struck out 9 Giants batters in the process.

Gregor Blanco and Buster Posey were the only Giants batters to reach base at all. Blanco reached base thanks to a walk in the 7th inning, and then Posey got to first base after hitting into a fielders choice, which resulted in Blanco being tagged out at 3rd.

Congrats to Bailey, for yet another no hitter. It was a great performance against a solid offense, and he's now the 3rd Reds pitcher with multiple no hitters, joining Johnny Vander Meer and Jim Maloney.

Nolan Ryan and Homer Bailey are the only two pitchers in baseball history to have the last no-hitter one year and the first no-hitter the next year.  Pretty amazing accomplishment given all the great pitchers in baseball history
