More often than not, voters scroll to the top of the standings, find the team with the best record and submit the manager's name. Last year, NL voters awarded Joe Girardi for taking a bunch of young players and nearly turning them into a playoff team. The same needs to be done this year with Clint Hurdle. I'll admit to sleeping on the Rockies. Did you realize they're 7 games over .500 after a double header sweep of the Dodgers? That would be good enough for first place in the NL Central.
Hurdle regrouped a team 8-games under .500 Mid May with a shaky bullpen at best, and an average lineup to a legit playoff contender for most of the last month. With 5 games left against LA, 3 against San Diego, and the final three against Arizona there's still a chance for the Rockies. It's not often you say that. Whether they make it or not, here's my vote for Clint Hurdle.
