As I'm sure all of you know, Jayon Werth was re-signed by the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. He was given 1.7 million, almost double last year's salary, for one year. The Phillies have decided to platoon their entire outfield now that Aaron Rowand has left them, and overpaying for Werth may be the end. The Phillies reduced their number of players eligible for salary arbitration by one when they agreed to a one-year contract with outfielder Jayson Werth yesterday.
Werth, 27, will make $1.7 million in 2008, up from $850,000 in 2007.
