About Me:
Born in Santa Monica, CA and transplanted to Mississippi at very young age. I was raised around an auto dealership run by my mom. My dad was an MD and let her run the dealership to keep her out of trouble I guess. I wasn't so lucky as I stayed in trouble. Played FB, did Martial Arts and raced cars. That was my life until I joined the Army and Uncle Sammy decided to chunk me out of perfectly good airplanes for no good reason. Still don't know what I did to piss him off. Worked for the Fed, State and County Law Enforcement plus I've owned my own engine machine shop. I've raced SCCA, NHRA, IHRA and local dirt. Now I do more watching than doing.
How would you make NASCAR more profitable?

How would you make NASCAR more profitable if you ran it? Well I have an idea that sounds good at least to me. If two drivers have issues on the track, just pull them to the start/finish line and let them get ready to rumble!! Just charge the fans an extra $5 per ticket for the after race butt whooping. Let the Crew chiefs’ corner their own driver to give timely instruction, and let the flagman referee. Then ring the bell and let the fun begin.  The fans get an extra show, the anger between drivers is reduced, and most of all, your favorite driver get to whack on his adversary. It’s a win-win situation for all. NASCAR makes more money, we get to see a fight (probably a sissy fit fight), and we don’t get the irritated fan the next week screaming for another driver’s blood.

Now you are probably asking yourself, “Where is ol’ badsam going with this?”  Well I watched fans throw bottles and beer cans at Jeff Gordon last season and now we see fans booing and getting all upset over the Kyle Bush and junior show last week and again this week. I would just like to see if fans would calm down after seeing a little blood spilt. I am a fan and I follow the car brand more than an individual driver, so I could care less if two drivers duke it out. Considering the small stature of many of the drivers, I don’t figure it will be much of a fight, but I’d gladly watch out of curiosity and my support for the racing series.  In fact, I could see recruiting drivers from the MMA ranks just for this activity. Who needs IRL drivers anyway? We’ll have real deal MMA stars in NASCAR. Now that would be one hell of a hook for a race.

So how can NASCAR get some excitement back in the sport? Well NASCAR should look to the past and what made NASCAR such a media hit. It was the Allison brothers fighting Cale Yarborough on the backstretch at the 1978 Daytona 500. After that little fight, the rating went off the charts.  NASCAR even stated earlier this year that they would allow more interaction between the drivers after a confrontation. So why not carry it to the next step and encourage a boxing/MMA match right after the race. A driver pissing a bunch of guys off had better be in great shape as they could draw straws to see who gets him first.  How about tag team drivers from the same race team. Talk about true teamwork.

So how would you make extra money in these lean times for NASCAR? Moving track dates haven’t helped, neither has going to a new car. So what is there left? You tell me.
