Howard Stern Pranks Sportscenter Yet Again
Poor ESPN, The Butt Of Yet Another Howard Stern Prank Call
READ MORE:

Another day and another snafu at ESPN.

First they had to suspend Tony Kornheiser for what he said about Hannah Storm's wardrobe and now Howard Stern has pulled yet another fast one on the call screener at ESPN.

Tonight on Sportscenter, Scott Van Pelt thought he was getting an exclusive interview with recently released Brian Westbrook, which would have been a huge get....except it wasn't actually Brian Westbrook.

No it was Captain Janks from the Howard Stern show and after doing a Google search of Captain Janks, it turns out he is a pro at this.

The worst part about this is this isn't the first time that Sportscenter has been prank called by Howard Stern's people. The Stern show pranked Sportscenter with a call from "Steve Bartman" just days after his incident in Chicago:

I believe the saying "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" is very apt for how well ESPN screens their calls.

I watched it live, and really didn't know who or what it was, thanks for the explanation to what I saw...

As far as the Dan Patrick one, he was lead on much farther and I thought that one was better, this guy sounded nothing like Brian Westbrook (it was hard to tell at first, I've only listened to the real guy talk just a few times, but compared after) and am shocked it was let through.

Yeah the minute the guy started talking tonight, my first thought was "He isn't Brian Westbrook, he sounds like someone from Jersey Shore."

The best part is the next story was about Albert Pujols and they actually recognized (without ever actually saying it) that Pujols has a dirty sounding name.  That was a good laugh too.

How did they even begin to think that was Brian Westbrook? I don't know his voice exactly, but I could tell that wasn't him.

LOL @ ESPN for not knowing right off that this was not Westbrook.

Van Pelt's expression was priceless!  He wanted to burst out in laughter but knew he had to keep it together for the show.

First, who's Brian Westbrook?
Nevermind.  Just saw he's some NFL player who got released....

And next, ESPN isn't the only one susceptible to this sort of thing.  I have heard people calling CNN claiming to be eyewitnesses who were just cranks.  I hear one of them on the Stern show years ago (Not Capt Janks) who explained how he did it, and how incredibly easy it was to do since the cable news operation blindly took the guy's word on everything he said to get on the air.

Scott, Sister Angelica feels your pain.

I have a feeling that Captain Jenks will celebrate this latest classic by probably defrauding bars and night
clubs in the tri-state area around Philadelphia and again running afoul of the law.
