Hi Everyone,
Being a totally devoted Cubs fan I must say that I am so sick of the media bringing up the "Goat Curse" of 1945 and the "Black Cat" incident of 1969. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE ONLY ONES WHO BELIEVE IN IT ARE THE SPORTS ANNOUNCERS!
Seriously, we hear Marty Brennaman going on about how we believe in the goat curse and we don't accept the flaws of our team. It is so funny to me that all of the Cubs fans I talk to if the goat comes up is a joke to us and to be honest it hardly ever comes up in conversation. Then tonight the announcers on ESPN mention how Cubs fans believe in the bad luck of the black cat that circled around Ron Santo from the 1969 post season game. That one never comes up in a conversation unless we are talking about the 1969 Cubs. The funny thing about it is that the Cubs went on to win both of those games even though it was mentioned.
So to sum things up and just to make clear so everyone will know.. MOST CUBS FANS DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE CURSE OR THE BAD LUCK OF THE BLACK CAT. The media are the only ones that continue bring it up time and time again. Most Cubs fans believe in one thing and one thing only "WE BELIEVE IN THE CHICAGO CUBS!"
Until Next Time,
