The Portuguese player collided with a wall on the A538 Wilmslow Road near Manchester Airport at 10.20am on Thursday as he drove from his Cheshire home to United's Carrington training base. He survived, in case you were wondering. And he wasn't DUI either, cause he was breathalysed.
I know the title sounds crazy, but it's true. Weeks or maybe months before this accident, I had a quiz on Cristiano Ronaldo, asking quiz-takers why Cristiano had been admitted into a hospital some time ago. One of the answer options was that he'd been involved in a car accident. I don't believe in coincidences. We can look at things from several different angles here:
1. My subconscious had a feeling it might happen and it did.
2. I brought the accident upon him because of that question. I practically willed it on him.
3. It's just a stupid coincidence and I'm reading too much into it and should calm down a little.
Either way...Cristiano has totaled his Ferrari 599 GTB but he walked away from the accident unscathed, thank goodness. He trained as usual after being checked by United's doctors to see if he was suffering from shock so I'm guessing that he's fine for the time being. I'm not sure whether this'll affect United's performance against Chelsea, but I really hope not.
Could the accident be a symptom of an underlying medical condition? Did he fall asleep at the wheel? Was he drugged. If it were up to me I'd have him in a hospital, run blood tests, physicals, MRI scans and CAT scans. The works. I won't say what I think he might have in case I bring it down on him again.
Edwin Van de Sar, Manchester United's goalkeeper, was trailing behind him in another car at the time of the accident, and he might know what happened but I haven't heard anything about it. So, here comes another conspiracy theory: Did Van de Sar have anything to do with Ronaldo's crash? Maybe we didn't know him as well as we thought--Well, yeah, we don't know him except he's a great goalkeeper, but you get what I mean. Could he have...ehem...
Next up, I have a racing theory. Think about it, Ronaldo in a Ferrari, Van de Sar in his Bentley Continential...boys in their toys. Maybe they decided to have a little fun, what harm could it do, right? Need for speed. First car to the Carrington wins! Speeding recklessly down the A538 tunnel must've been pretty fun in shiny cars that boast that much horsepower...until you lose control of that shiny car and crash into a wall.
So far no one knows how it happened and why it happened, so these theories are pretty much moot. Let us turn our attention to the match between Manchester United and Chelsea. Do you think Cristiano Ronaldo should play? Something could be wrong with him underneath the surface. And if he does play, then do you think his performance will be affected by the accident? These are very unsettling questions that no one seems to have the answers to. I've no idea how to end an article, so I'll just put it this way: We'll see.
