NCAA Hockey doesn't have nearly the fan base that College Basketball or Football does, but the fans they do have are diehards. After months of College play and numerous polls and predictions right here on the Q, it's down to the final game of the year.
The Boston University Terriers almost didn't make it to the final, playing Vermont Catamounts. Vermont had looked poised to defeat the Terriers yet again, by the same 4-3 score that dominated regular season matchups. Although the Terriers dominated the first period, the Cats were ahead, after dominating in the second. It took a concerted effort in the final 7 minutes of the third period to first tie the game, courtesy of Chris Higgins, and then score the winner, courtesy of Colin Wilson. The Higgins/Wilson/Lawrence line manged nine points in the game and will be key heading into today's final against Miami University in Ohio.
the Miami (OH) Redhawks game against Bemidji State Beavers seemed to be never in question, as they defeated the Beavers 4-1. This is the first appearance by the Redhawks in the Frozen Four Final, after four straight tournament appearances. As a matter of fact, it's the College's first appearance in ANY final, in history.
The Redhawks scored against Bemidji barely 4 minutes into the first period and never looked back, scoring their second goal only 4 1/2 minutes later. Although the Beavers, got it within one a minute later, that would be the only goal they managed in the game. Miami dominated throughout the game, scoring twice more and moving on to the final. The game gets underway at 7pm ET tonight on ESPN, or if you have Silverlight installed on your computer, you can listen to the game
It isn't football and it isn't basketball, but it still should be a great game.

Congrats to BU and on to next season. By looking at them, I'd almost guess that Matt Gilroy is older than Clay Matvick.

Boston won. Who would have thought when it wa 3-1 Miami with a minute left?

Oh stop! I'm watching the Ducks and the game is NOT the greatest hockey I've ever seen :(

How about that? I can't remember seeing a team pull the goalie and score... TWICE!
I have no personal stake but I am finding myself pulling for Miami. BU has won enough.

I hate to rub it in, but you're missing an amazing game. BU was down 3-1 with less than a minute left, but scored 2 goals in 30 seconds, and it's heading to overtime now. Wow.

No ESPN in Canada, only TSN and TSN2, which often has the ESPN2 feed, but the World Curling Championships are on, and Canadians love their curling.....well some of them do....some of them really would rather watch hockey.

College Hockey is tremendous. The fans are insane, and the Frozen Four is like nothing else in sports.
