The Colts and Chargers have played some incredibly tight games in their recent history, and you have to figure it won't be much different this time either. The Colts are playing the best football of anyone in the NFL, having won their last 9 games. But even though the Chargers are 8-8, they're playing at home and they're playing well right now. Real well. One of the things though that may sway this game in favor of the Colts though is that LaDainian Tomlinson has what seems to be a pretty serious injury. Just to be 100% clear, he has a detached tendon that connects one of his groin muscles to his pubic bone, according to team sources. Man, it hurt just to write that. Indy is susceptible to the run, and while I know San Diego's running game stunk most of the year, it was starting to pick up the last few weeks. Now, if Tomlinson can't go, that means Darren Sproles, who rushed for fewer than 350 yards this year, will become the numero uno running back. And you can't like San Diego's chances then. Although it should be noted that Sproles' yards per carry average was 5.4, but let's face it, he's not a #1 running back.
From the quarterback standpoint, we have the NFL MVP Peyton Manning going up against the best statistical quarterback in the league this season, Philip Rivers. In fact, if it turns out LT can't go, this game could turn into an aerial assault by both teams, since Indy has the worst rushing team in the league.
80% of FanIQ is going with the Colts to win on the road, and if LT is spending most of the time on the sideline, I concur. But then again, last year no one gave the Chargers a chance in hell against Indy in the playoffs and they came up with a win.
