Truth is not much of the seeding and matchup matters as much as we'll discuss over the next three days, but still, that's the joy of the Selection Show. You've still got to win 6 games.- Indiana as an 8-seed? I realize they've struggled a little down the stretch but that's a little harsh to them ... and UNC. Hell of a second round matchup. Gordon could get hot and DJ White could limit Hansbrough in the post. That's how you beat the Tar Heels.
- What's up with all the mid-majors playing each other? Don't like that at all. On one hand, it assures more "Cinderellas" into the Second Round and does give them a greater chance to be well represented in the Sweet 16, but I'd still prefer the big vs mid pairing.
- The NCAA committee always says aren't concerned with the "hype" factor for pairing first round. Uh huh. Best games with many storylines to go with:
Butler vs. S-Alabama
Georgetown vs UMBC (neighborhood battle)
USC vs Kansas State. Hello, freshman.
Gonzaga vs Davidson. New Cindy vs Old.
Stanford vs Cornell. West brains vs East brains.
- How is Oregon a 9-seed? I was surprised they got in, but if you compare to some others left out they did have solid wins. Just a little stunned they are ahead of teams like Davidson and Arizona to name a few.
- Want to know why Kent St is seeded to highlight? Meet the NCAA Selection Committee complete with their Director of Athletics. Kent Read, Kent Write, Kent State! Sorry, had to.
- Shocked, SHOCKED that Billy Packer's first question to the Committee Chair, Thomas O'Connor, was questioning the lack of ACC teams.
- 12-5 Upset. How about all of them? I'll be going with Villanova for sure.
- Second round matchups I'd most like to see:
Butler vs Tennessee. Talk about a style of play difference. Not much else to complain about. Time to fill this thing out. Make sure to enter our Bracket Contest.
North Carolina vs Indiana. As we've discussed above, these are two teams with Top 10 talent meeting in Round 2. What?
Michigan State vs Pittsburgh. For obvious reason, and because it'll be a hell of a slugfest with refs letting the play on the court decide it, instead of the foul line.
West Virginia/Arizona winner vs Duke. Sniff, sniff ...
