The hearts of millions of fans stopped when they learned that their football idol Cristiano Ronaldo had been hurt in a La Liga match against Levante last weekend. The Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo suffered an eye injury which is still causing vision problems.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s complaints about vision have put the medical staff on alert. Although it’s been more than 48 hours since the injury, Cristiano Ronaldo is still being assessed and his abilities as a forward are being tested.
The injury could leave a scar just below Cristiano Ronaldo’s eye, which is why the Portugal international is considering cosmetic surgery. Well, that was expected after all Cristiano Ronaldo is the poster boy of Real Madrid and hundreds of brand names worldwide.
Cristiano Ronaldo was sidelined from Portugal’s friendly against Gabon on Wednesday due to this facial injury. The match ended up in a 2-2 draw.
Cristiano Ronaldo picked up the injury from David Navarro’s stray elbow. The strike from the Levante defender David Navarro led Cristiano Ronaldo to “dizzy spells, problems with his vision and a headache” according to the Portuguese Football Association doctor Henrique Jones.
The Spanish newspaper AS reports Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t able to fully open his left eye after he was patched up. AS also informed that Cristiano Ronaldo was considering a small cosmetic surgery to avoid scarring. Well, Cristiano Ronaldo is the face of hundreds of brands and products.
In a Twitter on Tuesday, Cristiano Ronaldo thanked for all the support from his fans and followers and ensured that he was on the road to recovery.
“Thanks for the messages received over the last few days,” Cristiano Ronaldo tweeted. “I am feeling better and hope to return to 100%.”
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to return to action for Real Madrid’s La Liga game against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday. Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira and forward Karim Benzema will also be available for the game.
An official statement of Real Madrid’s website confirmed that Sami Khedira and Karim Benzema were expected to recover fully from their respective injuries before the meeting with Athletic Bilbao.
Sami Khedira and Karim Benzema avoided international duty because of their respective injuries, but they did train under the eyes of Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.
“Midfielder [Sami] Khedira is back to working at the same pace as his team-mates,” the stamen of Real Madrid’s website read. “[Karim] Benzema, continuing with his recovery process, trained on the sidelines at Valdebebas.”
