Inter Milan star Wesley Sneijder agrees to move to Tottenham Hotspur
In spite of reports suggesting Wesley Sneijder was on the brink of a sensational move to Manchester United, it’s Tottenham Hotspur who seems to have won the rights to the Dutchman’s services.
Reports from Italy have linked Wesley Sneijder with a shocking move to the London underdogs Tottenham Hotspur. Since the departure of Rafael van der Vaart there has been a void in Tottenham Hotspur’s attack. No attacking midfielder has been able to provide an edge and freedom in the midfield which Rafael van der Vaart so easily provided Tottenham Hotspur with.
Wesley Sneijder, who put himself up for sale in the summers, has reportedly agreed to the personal terms of a contract offered by Tottenham Hotspur. All that is left now is for Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur to agree upon the transfer fees for Wesley Sneijder.
This issue has been turned into a topic of controversy in the past as well. Back when Manchester United were trying to sign in Wesley Sneijder both clubs were unable to negotiate a final price for Netherlands international. Inter Milan demanded as much as £50 million from Manchester United, which was a price the Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson bluntly refused to pay.
Things are much different now. Wesley Sneijder has fallen out of favor at Inter Milan which is why he is eager to move out of San Siro. The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has been out of Inter Milan’s first team for over three months. The Inter Milan manager Andrea Stramaccioni insists the decision to bench Wesley Sneijder is a tactical one.
Nonetheless, Wesley Sneijder has finally grown tired of being sidelined. Rife rumors suggest Tottenham Hotspur might be able to sign in Wesley Sneijder for as little as £12 million this January.
Wesley Sneijder was an integral part of the success Inter Milan achieved under Jose Mourinho. The attacking midfielder was also part of the Netherland squad that went up to battle against Spain in 2010 World Cup final.
A number of top notch clubs have linked with Wesley Sneijder in the past. The list includes Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Chelsea, Juventus, Manchester City and Manchester United. Wesley Sneijder is eager to move into a Premier League club and as Tottenham Hotspur is the only club with serious interest in him the likelihood of Wesley Sneijder playing for them is quite high.
