As you well know, Barry Bonds sat out Monday's Cubs-Giants game due to "general soreness". That just so happened to be the third televised Giants game of the season on ESPN, each of which Barry has conveniently taken a rest. Furthermore, Bonds sat out of the Home Run Derby last Monday, an ESPN telecast. Is this on purpose? The Baseball Tonight crew has been discussing it all week:
Of course it is. This is Barry Bonds we're talking about. He may indeed be experience "general soreness," but he's also experiencing his typical general animosity towards the media. He's always said he doesn't care about the media, but it's quite the opposite ... he cares too much.Ravech: "Barry said yesterday, `I don't need a day off.' This is, I believe, Game 3 in a row that the ESPN cameras have been there and he hasn't played. I can't believe there's any connection. That wouldn't be right to the team."
Kruk: "You would hope not."
Ravech: "There's no way."
Kruk: "You would hope he doesn't dislike us that much that he would sit out games."
Speaking of his "general soreness" which has also kept him out of Tuesday and Wednesday's games at Wrigley, it's a good thing Barry didn't participate in the Home Run Derby, that would have really worn him out. Oh wait.
Is Bonds coincidentally sore, or does he have it out for ESPN?
