Or is there life beyond the Madness? For the first time in a while, I'll riff a little on other sports. Yes, Virginia, there are other sports, we just tend to iignore them during March Madness. But.... I couldn't help to post this nugget that I've seen everywhere regarding Kevin Garnett. (geez Jared, if you're going to talk other sports, why the NBA, a sport you despise??). Just check this out: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3300421
I hate when I see in any sport, true or untrue, that an athlete or a team "tanked" it. It makes that team or player a lot like the WWF or something. I've always wondered if sports have been fixed, because some situations were downright fishy. I can't name specifics, but I'm sure you know what I mean. And in the case of Garnett, why bring up a situation now? The timing is interesting to me.
The MLB Players association is looking into why Barry Bonds is unemployed. See:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3300362.
Hmmm...I wonder? Could it be that Bonds is a great big jackass????
I caught this nugget from the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/18/AR2008031802995.html
What I find interesting with this is that the owners, like it or not, agreed to the deal. I don't like the idea of players getting as much as they do, but the owners still not only agreed to the CBA, but to pay these players. Now they're entertaining not only the idea of a lockout, but claiming financial hardship? Puhlease.... Okay, some of the have-nots (Buffalo and Jacksonville stand out from a financial standpoint) had issues before agreeing to the deal. But i think, for a change, I might be on the players on this one. it will very interesting to see....
That was the non- Madness portion of the show. We return you to your regularly scheduled Madness programming....
