USA cracks the top 20 for the first time since March 2011       The August 2013 release of the FIFA World Ranking is in, and it has shaken up CONCACAF. For the first time since March 2011, the USA is in the top 20. They sit at 19th in the world, and are the leaders of CONCACAF. With a plenty of young talent on display most recently at the 2013 Gold Cup, the US seem to be in no shortage of potential. The Americans are on a historic 11-game winning streak. With three matches upcoming before the next ranking, the American side could make it into the top 15.
With the World Cup approaching next summer, the USA lead the hexagonal in qualifying with a few matches to go. It seems likely that they will qualify for the World Cup. With a bunch of players in the mix to make the squad in the defense and midfield, we won't have a good idea of who will play until next spring. It should be interesting to see over the next 8 months who stands out and win the job in the eyes of the coach Jurgen Klinsman. Keep an eye out on the defense and midfield to see who stands out.

More to come,
Kevin
