Blog Photo - It ends in a whimper: A-Rod drops lawsuit against MLB, MLBPAIt seemed like the one thing we knew about Alex Rodriguez is that he would not stop fighting his 162 game suspension as a result of the Biogenesis scandal. Quietly on a Friday afternoon though, he proved us wrong. A-Rod filed a notice to dismiss his lawsuit against MLB and the MLBPA. The dismissal is voluntary, which gives him the right to refile if he wants to.

There has been no explanation given for the dismissal. Craig Calcaterra of Hardball Talk, a former lawyer, laid out some potential reasons, some far fetched, others more plausible. In the end, Calcaterra concludes that the simplest explanation is likely correct, that A-Rod wanted to stop. We'll see if that ends up being the case, but usually the simplest explanation is the correct one.

If A-Rod has decided to stop and doesn't refile, that means the Biogenesis case is mercifully over. Finally, A-Rod has done something we can cheer for.
