It's Official, Dale Earnhardt Sr, is rolling in his grave and Theresa is an idoit.

It has been reported that the famous 8 car, currently driven by Aric Almirola, is being shut down indefinitely due to lack of sponsorship. Wow! That doesn't surprise this NASCAR fan one bit.

NASCAR fans remember just two short years ago all the hoopla surrounding Dale Earnhardt Jr., his step-mother Theresa, DEI, and the future of all three.

Dale Jr. wanted majority ownership of the company which his father started. Why not? He was, at the time, the numero-uno man at DEI. Had big money as a sponsor, Budweiser. Had the largest fan base, and generated, dare I say, multi-millions into the company. Theresa just would not give in and stood her ground. She was "mommy knows best" and lost not just Dale Jr., but also sister and marketing genius in her own right, Kelley Earnhardt-Elledge, the big money in Budweiser, and now the U.S. Army.

With the economy in "recession", the "Big 3" in question, Dale Jr with powerhouse Hendrick Motorsports, sponsors bailing to Stewart/HAAS, the DEI/Ganassi Racing merger is now fizzling. How long will it be until BassPro pulls sponsorship of Truex Jr and Target dumps Montoya?

Lets not forget that two Yates cars have folded for the season.  It is not just DEI.  Former big name teams are slipping away.

IMO, Truex and JPM are not bad drivers, BassPro and Target are great sponsors. Theresa just screwed the pooch in letting Jr go and all that he brought to DEI. Which was obviously, quite a bit. It's just sad to see the 8 going belly-up, a number which grand-paw drove. The heffer could have relenquished the rights to the 8 two years ago and let HMS pick it up. Let it "stay in the family" so to speak. I hate seeing DEI in the position they are in right now, losing it all over greed and not so smart marketing.
