It was ten years ago today, on Monday, December 20, 2003, when a visibly hammered Joe Namath made it the best Christmas ever by telling ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber, "I want to kiss you. I could care less about the team struggling... I want to kiss you" during a live televised Monday Night Football game. The moment was a revelation for Internet sports wiseasses everywhere, and helped spawn the snarky sports blog landscape that we know and live in today.

Ten years later, Joe Namath still has not kissed Suzy Kolber (as far as we know). He is off the sauce, and credits the incident with his decision to go forward with a recovery program. Ms. Kolber has never acknowledged the incident until just last year, out of respect for Namath's recovery. But NFL fans will never forget, so let's honor the anniversary with a repeat viewing of this unforgettable exchange.

"And I'm glad. I hated having to deal with that incident."

Ms. Kolber herself did not want to talk about the incident until Namath gave the OK for a 2006 HBO biographical documentary about his life. "When we first started talking and he was slow and deliberate and in his speech, what was going through my head was, 'Maybe it's just really cold.' And none of the executives in the truck were alarmed either because nobody said 'stop'." she said. "The direction in my earpiece was, 'keep going.'"

The NFL humor blog Kissing Suzy Kolber sprang up in response to the incident, and continues to be a go-to home for funny NFL gifs and memes. The blog held a Namath-Kolber tenth anniversary contest for readers to submit fan artwork commemorating the moment. The amazingly hilarious winning video, a Namath-Kolber-"Back to the Future" mashup, can be seen below.

This video is totally safe for work. But this video is not safe for work if your boss doesn't like you crying tears of laughter and howling with giggles so that you completely lose your composure.
