J.R. Smith Suspended Five Games for Failing Drug Test
J.R. Smith will be suspended for five games for violating the NBA’s drug policy. The sixth man of the year, did not fail any PED’s or HGH tests, but most likely failed a marijuana test, which explains why the suspension is only five games without fines.
However, Smith was already expected to miss the beginning part of the season, therefore, the five-game suspension does not come into affect until he is cleared to physically play.
The suspension will cost Smith about $252,000 based upon his new contract.
Smith is off to a horrendous start after signing his new $18 million contract this summer. Not only will his late off-season surgery affect his ability to play on time, but this newest infraction as well.
