Blogging the bases on Friday's MLB action ...
Athletics 16, Tigers 10 The good news is the Tigers offense came alive. The bad news is the pitching continues to resemble putrid odor. The voice of Tigers' fans is nonplussed:
Why is this happening to our Detroit Tigers? No one told us it would be like this. Please make it stop. Please make it stop. Please make it stop. This hurts. I don't like it anymore. As for the A's, the legend that is Jack Cust has struck again. After blowing a 7-1 lead, Cust crushed a grand slam and finished with 7 RBI's.
Cubs 6, Rockies 2 Two days in a row Jacque Jones has led the Cubs offense. Tomorrow's forecast: Pigs flying.
Yankees 6, Indians 1 The greatest pitcher of all time was back on the mound tonight ... and dealing. Phil Hughes was actually quite impressive, as was fellow rookie Joba Chamberlain.
Orioles 6, Red Sox 5 Thanks to Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis the O's did indeed win, but I can't help but focus again on their bullpen. I follow the boxscores quite regularly, but I need some help --- was is Chad Bradford a major league pitcher? Is it just me or has he yet to have a single positive outing this season?
White Sox 2, Mariners 1 Bobby Jenks equaled the AL record for consecutive outs, now 3 away from ML mark of 41.
