No one may have ever heard of Jack Taylor before, but Kobe and the rest of the NBA have now. Taylor scored 138 points on Tuesday night for Grinnell – a D-III school in Iowa. Taylor was 52-108 and 27-71 from long distance as Grinnell went on to beat Faith Baptist Bible 179-104.
After the Lakers beat the Nets, Kobe was asked what he thought about Taylor’s performance by Dave McMenamin, since he scored 81 points at one time himself.
Reporter: Kobe, a college kid scored 138 points tonight and took over 100 shots …
Bryant: “Wow … No kidding? Where?”
Reporter: Grinnell College in Iowa.
Bryant: “Really? Wow. That’s impressive. That’s crazy. I don’t care what level you’re at. Scoring 138 points is pretty insane. How many 3s did he shoot?”
Reporter: 71.
Bryant: “Holy sh–. How many points did they score as a team?”
Reporter: 179.
Bryant: “What?!”
Reporter: No other starter had double figures.
Bryant: “That’s incredible.”
Reporter: Dude on the other team scored 71 points and lost.
Bryant: “That’s amazing. He must have been wearing the Mambas, man. Only Mambas have no conscious to shoot the ball like that
Reporter: If you did that, would people be celebrating you?
Bryant: “Would people be celebrating me if I scored 138 points? You know how it is, some people would, some people wouldn’t. They can all kiss my a– as I’m sure he feels the same way. If you score 138 points, you kind of have a license to tell people to f— off.”
The humorous part about this wonderful story is that the leading scorer for Faith Baptist scored 71 pts, which would’ve been impressive had it not been shadowed by Taylor’s 138. You can watch the full game between Grinnell and Faith Baptist Bible here.

no but we can say "deferred stupidity" ... "deferred responsibility" or "teamless" which isn't a word lol
but we can say that. How about calling his The Big Crutch?

Anyone see his interview where he said at least a couple of times that he was glad that his teammates weren't being selfish and that they continued to feed him the ball.... Can we say "irony"?!

he threw up over 100 shots and the rest of the team had 41 so that's essentially another 20 shots if they made them all which they probably didn't so you figure if they were lucky shot 50% they threw up 40 shots.
Then if the team was shooting 50% why was he hogging all the shots? Horrible teammate.

Amazing production. But it would have been more impressive if there had been Defense. Total scoring almost reached 300. My favorite quote, "It felt like anything I tossed up was going in" -- he was 52 of 108! And what was the rest of his team doing as they produced a combined 41 points? Making a flying wedge?http://bbs.nowgoal.com/showtopic-21771.html

Grinnell College has lead all levels of college basketball in scoring 15 out of the last 16 years. They are notorious for having games like this
