The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected offensive tackle Luke Joeckel with the second pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Joeckel is a prototypical left tackle and blocked Johnny Manziel’s blind side during his Heisman season last year at Texas A&M. He is expected to start immediately and anchor the offensive line for years to come.
The Jags need a lot of help coming off of a 2-14 campaign. They finished in the bottom third of the league in Passing Offense, Rushing Offense, Passing Defense and Rushing Defense, so they will need to make some more key additions throughout the draft to address all of these issues. With Joeckel blocking the blind side, the Jaguars 21st ranked passing offense should improve after giving up 50 sacks in 2012.
Pass rush is their other glaring need and with a league low 20 sacks in 2012, a pass rusher should be their next priority.
