A commenter over at the Big Lead caught this screen shot of Jake Peavy after his win Saturday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers, which of course instantly reminds you of the Kenny Rogers hand during the 2006 World Series.
Dirt? Rosin? Bad wiper? Peavy has obviously gone with the "dirt" explanation:
"It's just dirt," said Peavy as he looked at copies of the pictures. "I pick up dirt. I mean, come on. I mean, seriously. That's funny to me, seriously."How often to pitchers pickup dirt and just leave it on there hand for fun? Do you believe him?
He later added, "If anybody wants to check me for anything I'm doing at any time, they're more than welcome to. I promise you that."
