James Harrison Turns Down White House Visit
James Harrison Wants No Part Of Visiting The Bandwagon-Hopping President
James Harrison is an idiot. A self-absorbed, arrogant, ignorant fool. There's really no getting around it. He turned down an invitation to visit the White House with his Super Bowl champion teammates, because basically, he feels that Barack Obama has no interest in the Steelers themselves, but only invited them because he's hopping on the Steelers bandwagon after their Super Bowl win.

"This is how I feel -- if you want to see the Pittsburgh Steelers, invite us when we don't win the Super Bowl. As far as I'm concerned, he would've invited Arizona if they had won"

No s***, Sherlock. That's only what presidents have been doing for decades, now. Without the Super Bowl, you're just another one of the hundreds of NFL players that the President has no time to think about.

Harrison's refusal to visit the White House would be like him refusing to participate in the post-Super Bowl celebratory parade, because the city is only hosting the parade because they won the Super Bowl, and there would instead have been a parade for Arizona if THEY had won. In short, it makes no sense whatsoever.

Before anyone jumps on the political angle, that's not it. Harrison declined the invite 3 years earlier, when the Steelers won SB XL. So it's nothing political... he's just a dumbass.

I will agree with Pat, Harrison is nothing less than a complete idiot in this matter. Harrison's claim is absolutely right...the President would have invited the Cardinals instead had THEY won. Harrison may not have noticed this, but the tradition of the Super Bowl winner (as well as champions in the other major sports) being invited to the White House has been an ongoing practice for many years. Treat the invitation as the honor that it is -- the opportunity to be a guest of the President of the United States -- and stop being a complete jerk about it.

Dear James,
You are retarded.  I'd gladly accept a free ticket to the White House to spend the day with the President.  You do know the President ALWAYS invites the Super Bowl Champion to the White House, right?  Grow up!
Signed,
FanIQ's token Steeler fan

This is so idiotic, I can't even come up with a smart remark!  What do they say? You can't make fun of someone if they're too stupid to know they're being made fun of...

Good for him.  He may be giving an odd reason.  But so what.  Sane people don't want to go to Dizzy City. I wouldn't go either. But I'd be honest and  say it's because ALL POLITICIANS ARE CROOKS and SUCK and leave it at that.

I don't think anyone is blaming him simply for declining the invite. If he had given a better reason, then it wouldn't even be a story. But the fact that he is so ignorant and flat out stupid is where the problem lies.

Geez.  I guess he'll be declining his ring too, after all they're only giving it to him because....He probably prefers the rings the Steelers give him when they lose.  It's a character thing.

Can't argue against that.  A better excuse or a simple, thank, but no thanks would have been better.

I blame the spill he took on his neck diving into the endzone.

Way to go, James!  You're the smartest of them all!

It's his choice, but his reasoning was about as sensible as a peep hole on a screen door.

Hey, you don't like Obama, that's cool.  You don't like politicians, fine. "As far as I'm concerned, he would've invited Arizona if they had won." Seriously.  That equipment manager needs to be fired, because those helmets are way to tight!  I can see those team advisors right now.  "Hey Bill, come here!  You're not gonna belive what Harrison is about to say! HA HA HA, WOO HOO, HA HA"

Another brilliant statement from an athlete trying to bring attention to himself...winning the Super Bowl was  obviously not enogh to qualify.

Obama is a Steelers fan? That is news to me. Just because he picked the Steelers to win does not make him a fan. Any way he is entitled to his reason and this is a non story to me. I do not go to Harrison for advice, I go to him to WIN football games and bring home trophies.

James Harrison makes the single greatest play in Super Bowl history and he needs to bring attention to himself? He was the defensive player of the year and he needs to bring attention to himself? The only attention I have ever seen Harriosn bring to himself is by his outstanding play on the football field. This was a non story when Bush was in office but now that Obama is in office it is a big deal? Why? The only people given him attention are the poeple that are making much ado about nothing. He just stated his mind every one else is making it a story.

Stated his mind, which he just happens to be out of. Sure, when other players didn't want to meet with Bush it was usually because of some political reason. But this reason? This is just stupid. I won't cover all the great things that other posts have covered, but go back and look. He just does not want to do it because he thinks that Obama would have invited AZ had they won. Well of course! This is a dumb reason not to go.

The guy is a phenom of an athlete.  He has a pea sized brain.  And even though I am not a Liberal supporter, if I were invited to the White House, I would attend regardless of who was running the show.  Also, this could have been prevented if people saw this guy for who he is.  He is Lyle Alzado on crack with his dirty play.  Thats ok though.  He will eventually get his.  What a derelect.

so a Black Athlete refuses his once chance to meet the first Black President?!  hmmm.. steroids do play with the mind a little.  What an idiot.  I would kill for a chance to meet Obama.  He gets a free chance and says No.  What a whiny b****.

As with alot of football players, Awesome talent not so much on brains. Bottom line is It does'nt change what I like about him on the field!

I guess he thinks there is an "I" in team. You go where the team is invited, dummy. I come from the military and from the looks of it his leadership is not in control. I bet if they fined the players for not going he would be there with a smile on his face

I've read every post on here and agree with some of them.  The bottom line is that James Harrison is one of the best players in the NFL.  It's none of my business why he didn't go to the White House.  As long as he helps the Steelers win is all I care about.
