Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-USA TODAY SportsFirst-year Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd pled guilty to a misdemeanor drunk driving charge and has been placed on interim probation.

The plea comes almost exactly a year after Kidd got in a single-car accident in Southampton, New York on July 15, 2012. At the time, Kidd had just signed with the New York Knicks, where he played last season, his final as a player.

As part of his plea, Kidd must speak to Long Island high school students about drunken driving and its dangers.

Kidd is one of the greatest players in Nets' franchise history, having taken the team to two NBA Finals as a player. This will be his first season as a coach.
