It's guys like Jason Maxiell that don't get enough love around the NBA for their role playing, energy boosting plays. Problem for Maxiell is that the Pistons are full of these types of players, but Monday was his night.
Kevin Garnett was primed for an easy emphatic dunk in the first quarter. Maxiell, trailing by at least 10 yards, had other plans. He ate himself some Celtics babies and devoured this KG dunk attempt.
Maxiell wasn't done. He went on a 4th quarter scoring binge highlighted by a powerful transition dunk (video after the block). In total, the Pistons bench forward had 14 points on 6-for-6 shooting. As much as Detroit needs Tayshaun Prince and Chauncey Billups to deliver, when they don't (17 points combined on 6-for-24 shooting) Maxiell can make up for everything with his game changing blocks, rebounds and dunks.
