Redskins Head Coach Jim Zorn says WR Antwaan Randle-El and CB Carlos Rogers will both be game-time decisions for this Saturday’s preseason game against the New York Brett Favres Jets. Randle-El is recovering from a strained hamstring and Rogers is battling back from a devastating knee injury from last season. Rogers is playing very well in practice, but the team has been cautious about exposing him to the full contact of a phony preseason real football game.
DE Jason Taylor, who has been limited in recent days by a bout with plantar fasciitis, says it won’t harm his performance this season. Apparently, Taylor and plantar fascitiis are old acquaintances and Taylor has won that battle before.
“It’s football, baby,” Taylor said. “You’re going to be sore and beat up. It’s just one of those things you’ve got to manage and take care of.”
Perhaps Taylor’s confidence is not misplaced. Zorn put the starting offense against the starting defense in practice today and the result was Jason Taylor taking RT Jon Jansen to school.
[Taylor] tossed Jon Jansen to the ground “like a wet rag” a good three yards behind the quarterback on one play That generated a chorus of “oohs” from the sidelines.
…Taylor put on a pretty impressive display, the day after his plantar fasciitis flared up. When the starters came off the field, defensive line coach John Palermo came over and gave him a bear hug around the head.
Also, the Redskins seemingly have no interest in PK Jay Feely, who was recently cut loose and is available. That may be the case, but if Suisham shanks a few more during this preseason, I’m thinking all bets are off.
Now, watch Jason Reid discuss the holy terror that is Jason Taylor.
