Jeff Gordon to remain with HMS for at least four more years

Jeff Gordon and DuPont with Hendrick through 2013...we hope

We all know Jeff Gordon has a lifetime contract with Hendrick Motorsports, but his recent back problems have led to speculation about an early retirement.

It seems, however, that Jeff isn't ready to hang up the steering wheel just yet.  Hendrick, having just finished negotiations with Jimmie Johnson, is now working on a lifetime contract for Chad Knaus and a sponsorship renewal contract with Duport for the 24 car.

Hendrick has now said he expects Jeff Gordon will be driving through the end of 2013 at least, and expects Dupont to be the primary sponsor on the car for the duration of that time.

It's these kinds of announcements that could be bad luck to just about every other team in the garage.

I just called Jeff and told him that he has to stay around just a few more years...He  told me that it was touching to know that i was his biggest fan... We talked a few more minutes and he said that i am in the running for the next Mrs. Gordon....Hot dang....I'll be right over Babycakes....lolololololololololololol  (I wish)

Thank You, Thank You, you made my day. Thats the best comment I've read on here. Bar none.
I tip my old black hat to you. :)

I don't want to even start thinking of life without Gordon driving the 24, so I'm glad he's on board for some more racing.

Luckily, it doesn't seem Hendrick has any of the sponsor woes that have fallen on other teams either.   That HAS to help in the long run, when negotiating for these guys.

Hendrick has the top three cars!!! Can they be beat? Rick will do everything in his power to bring Jr up along side the other three, he has the money, and time, as he doesn't need to worry about the top three. All will be good at Hendrick's and I will enjoy watching.

What's the old saying... If it aint broke, dont fix it.  Hendrick has the best equipment, the best organization and arguably the best drivers.  There is no need to change anything when things are going so well.  Good luck to the rest of the garage

Glad to see he's planning another four years.  The 24 team made some really good progress this year and its pretty clear that Gordon can still drive as well as anyone.  Another title would be nice (especially seeing how the Chase has screwed him out of 2, not that I'm still bitter or anything).  On top of all that, I'm not ready to find a new favorite driver.
