The Boston Celtics lost a meaningless Exhibition game in Turkey, but that wasn't the story. Jeff Green, who underwent career-threatening heart surgery after an aortic aneurysm was detected, made his return to the court for the Celtics. Green scored 11 of his 16 Points in the 4th quarter, and was 7-10 from the floor with 4 rebounds. It really is an amazing and feel good story that Green is back playing nearly 10 months following the operation. After having his $9M contract revoked due to failing his physical, Green signed on for a 4-year deal worth around 36 Million. Green is only 26 and can definitely help the Celtics with his versatility.
Most expected Green to make a huge Impact for the aging Celtics last year, but now he gets a second chance to make a first impression. The Celtics now get a much need injection of youth with Green, and draft picks Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo. As great as Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce played this past postseason, the time is now for this team to look towards the future.
I'm not a Celtics fan, but when Jeff Green isn't playing the Bulls--I will be rooting for him to do great things.
