Jets believe Santonio Holmes will miss rest of season
This is the latest of the many terrible things to happen to the Jets, dating back to March when they signed Mark Sanchez to an extension just weeks before trading for Tim Tebow.
After losing Darrelle Revis to an ACL tear in Week 3, the Jets will now be without their best playmakers on both offense and defense. Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley project to be the starters for the Jets with Holmes gone, but Chaz Schilens may get the start in Week 5 with Hill recovering from a hamstring injury. With tight end Dustin Keller possibly missing more time with a hamstring injury of his own, the Jets might just have the worst receiving core in the NFL.
For what it's worth, the Jets reportedly do not want to bring back Plaxico Burress, as they believe it would "hamper" Mark Sanchez.
Ranked 30th in yards per carry, the Jets offense will have to rely heavily on Mark Sanchez to make plays using his dreadful array of "weapons." I can't say that I expect the Sanchez-Kerley connection to lead the Jets to many victories. With their defense as bad as it has been in years (22nd in scoring), the Jets are looking at a long season, despite their respectable record of 2-2.
The Tebow chants are coming, and hey, what do they have to lose? Might as well give the fans what they want.
