I'm not sure what it is about pro athletes who get caught drinking and driving. It's like no one's ever sat them down and said "Hey buddy, you make millions of dollars a year. You can call a cab."The latest dingbat to have some beef against the cab industry is Jevon Kearse, who was seen speeding and swerving several times while traveling in his car in Nashville early Sunday.
The officer who pulled the Titans over said Kearse had slurred speach, red eyes, and smelled of alcohol. Kearse also reportedly refused a breath test, which is always a fantastic idea.
But here's my favorite part: Kearse said he only had one vodka red bull.
I love that for two reasons. One, because it's a complete lie. And two, even if it isn't a lie, it means he's total lightweight, which would be even funnier.
It's already been a drunk-tastic offseason for a number of players. Cedric Benson has single-handedly completed two-thirds of the drunk driving trifecta by getting caught boozing while boating and driving. Here's hoping he can get one while flying. Lofa Tatupu was also hit with a DUI. Same with Dwayne Jarrett, Roscoe Parish, Brent Hawkins, Jacoby Jones, and Daren Stone.
By the way, if you want to see what other kind of fun NFL players have been getting into, just check out this great work by the San Diego Union Tribune. They've been tracking every NFL arrest/citation since 2000.
There are a lot of drunks in the NFL. And guys who beat people up. Shocking!
