Right now, it doesn't look good for the Yankees making the playoffs. And I couldn't be happier. Naturally, people are looking for reasons why the team will likely the miss the playoffs for the first time since 1993. Is it because Jeter is having his worst year ever? Is it because their pitching sucks? Is it because they're old?Well, sure. But this also might have something to do with it.
It would be tough for average Joes to beat a couple of Yankees at baseball, but slamming them in a game of beer pong was no sweat. Last week, Jason Giambi and Joba Chamberlain were celebrating their win against the Kansas City Royals at Southern Hospitality, on Second Avenue, when a table of fans challenged them to a game of the college drinking sport. Our spy said, "The fans gave them a beating. Toward the end Chamberlain and Giambi got really competitive, but it wasn't enough."
How many things are wrong with this paragraph? Well, any time you're celebrating a win over the Royals, you've got some major problems. Might as well just end your season right there.
By the way, if this is how they celebrate a win over the Royals, how do they celebrate a win over the Red Sox? My guess would be they party like Corey Delaney.
I'm also surprised that Giambi, well known for drinking like a fish, wasn't better at Beirut. He probably should have challenged them to a Jack Daniels chugging contest.
I'm not worried though about Joba and Giambi. They'll have plenty of time to practice Beirut when their season ends prematurely.
