Jodie Meeks Signs A Two-Year Deal With The Lakers
The veteran guard will certainly not start, but he will provide Kobe Bryant much needed rest minutes. According to the LA Times, the Lakers also signed him for pretty cheap. He agreed to a two-year contract worth roughly $3 million, with the second year being a team option.
Last season Meeks played in 66 games, started in 50 and averaged 8.4 points, 0.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 24.9 minutes. Not stellar numbers, but good bench numbers and it's certainly better than the garbage bench the Lakers were dealing with last year.
There's still a lot of young guys on the team, like Goudelock and Morris, who can grow into essential players for the Lakers, but right now it's good to put some reliable padding between them and the starting five.
