JoePa Statue Threatened In a New Form
An airplane has been sighted circling the landmark today while carrying a banner that reads, "Take the statue down or we will."
The seven-foot statue was initially built to represent Paterno's legacy as part of the football program and university, which has been tarnished by the ongoing Jerry Sandusky scandal.
Many believe the statue should be removed and or destroyed.
On Sunday, the Penn State Board of Trustees issued a statement discrediting a report that they had decided to keep the Paterno statue up, claiming no decision had been made either way and would not be for some time.
According to the pilots (who have yet to be named), they might not have to make the decision themselves.
