Johan Santana showed that despite his won-loss record, he's the same pitcher that he was for years with the Twins. He threw a complete game shutout against the Pirates, striking out 7, while allowing only 3 hits and walking none. The Mets went on to win 4-0. 85 of Santana's 113 pitches were strikes, and Jack Wilson (2 hits) and Andy Laroche were the only Pirates who could get to him at all. Santana's battery mate Brian Schneider provided more than enough offense for Santana, going 2-3 with a HR and 3 RBI.The Washington Nationals are absolutely abysmal. They're already owners of the worst record in baseball, and certainly aren't doing anything to change that as they lost their 10th in a row, 7-2 to the Rockies. Ian Stewart drove in 3 for the Rockies, and Seth Smith hit a pinch-hit 3-run HR as well to complete the blowout.

Could Derek Jeter end his career outside of New York?
Jeff Kent would do well to remember that Vin Scully is a Hall of Famer, and Jeff Kent is most certainly not. Which raises and interesting question... Is Jeff Kent a Hall of Famer?
Speaking of future Hall of Famers, Craig Biggio's number got retired by the Astros. Congratulations, Craig.
