Seeing as this week is the British Open, it means it's yet another chance for John Daly to miss a cut. The only question, of course, is how exactly he'll do it. I would normally say, well, he'll miss it because he's drunk, but apparently Daly wants you to know that isn't the case anymore.Yes, Daly is still steamed at his former swing coach, Butch Harmon, for making comments about him after he was caught drinking in a Hooters hospitality tent during the PODS Championship in Tampa in March.
Harmon told the Associated Press after the PODS Championship incident that "my whole goal for [Daly] was he's got to show me golf is the most important thing in his life. And the most important thing in his life is getting drunk."But Daly now wants people to know he's changed his ways. Oh, but first he's threatening Harmon.
"[Harmon] needs to stay as far away from me as possible."So yes, back to those changed ways. Enlighten us John. Have you gone cold turkey?
Daly said injuries - not drinking - are the true source of his struggles on the golf course. You know they say the first stage that proves you're an alcoholic alcoholic is denial. I should know, I deny it every day. But, more seriously, I don't think Daly has a problem. I mean, it's not like he was hitting golf balls off a beer can only three week's ago. Oh, wait.
But, I mean at least he hasn't appeared in any questionable ads in the past that involve suggestions of alcohol abuse. Right? Uh, wrong.
Clearly, Daly doesn't have a problem at all. Butch Harmon, you're obviously totally out of line. I have a feeling Daly will do great at the British Open. Although that'll probably be on the 19th hole.
