If the NCAA does indeed rule that he took money for autograph signings and suspends him for a few games (or possibly more), his chances of repeating as Heisman winner are pretty much zero. There are too many excellent players in the country to convince voters that a guy should win a 2nd trophy in a row if he missed time.
Via Dr. Saturday, Bovada came out with Heisman odds for the 2013 season, and Manziel is pretty far down the list, with 15/1 odds.
Here are some of the favorites:
Ohio State QB Braxton Miller 9/2
South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney 6/1
Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater, 9/1
Alabama QB AJ McCarron, 10/1
Oregon QB Marcus Mariota, 12/1
Georgia QB Aaron Murray, 14/1
Alabama RB TJ Yeldon 14/1
Clemson QB Tajh Boyd 14/1
Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel 15/1
Oregon DB De'Anthony Thomas 16/1
Miami RB Duke Johnson 16/1
Theoretically, if gambling is legal where you live, would you put down a few dollars on Manziel to repeat? Personally, I think Bridgewater or Clowney will end up winning, but of course McCarron or could have a great season for a potential championship team, and that could be the difference maker.
Who do you think will win the Heisman in 2013?
