Here are some of the highlights of qualifying for this weekend's Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway... - A.J. Allmendinger (2nd), Patrick Carpentier (5th), Dave Blaney (8th), and Aric Almirola (10th) surprised everybody by earning a top 10 starting spot.
- The Gillett Evernham cars (Kahne, Sadler, and Carpentier) start 4th, 5th, and 6th.
- The highest starting Ford is 13th place, Jamie McMurray.
- Race favorite Carl Edwards will have to start from the 26th position
- Tony Raines failed to qualify for the 7th time this season. Funny thing is, he's only qualified for 4 races.
Joe Nemecheck actually turned out a decent lap and will start in 20th position Sunday evening. That is amazing in itself, but he also sets a record for his Furniture Row Racing team by qualifying for 22 straight races. Now if he could only finish better than 29th, it would mark his best finish in 6 races. You still have time to vote for who the worst driver is. Clint Bowyer, and ESPN are sure that it's Michael Waltrip. Who do you think is the worst driver? He has had a rough time with his team (Michael Waltrip Racing), but lets be honest. He's not the worst driver out there... (look to the left)
Here is another dirver available for 2009 that isn't doing anything with his current team. My guess is he'll land on one of those A+ teams like Hall of Fame Racing or Furniture Row Racing. Can't do much worse than he has with Gillett Evernham Racing. This upcoming Tuesday (Sep. 2nd), ESPN will feature Joey Logano on E:60 at 7:00.
