The point guard left the game on New Year’s Eve with a tightness in his left hamstring, which is the one he previously injured. It turns out he tore the same left hammy, but in a different place.

Farmar is expected to be out for four weeks.

This will leave the Lakers’ new acquisition Kendall Marshall as the team’s only point guard, since Xavier Henry has been temporarily sidelined for seven to 10 days due to a right bone bruise.

Marshall has only gotten minutes when Coach Mike D’Antoni was forced to play him, which is now the case. He’s currently averaging 5.3 points, 2.5 assists, and one rebound per game in 12.9 minutes. However, those minutes were very sporadic, since in the last three games Marshall went from playing zero minutes, to 17 minutes, to 28 minutes.
