Mandatory Credit: Howard Smith-US PRESSWIREThe Lakers may have found their point guard. It looks like the Toronto Raptors may sign Steve Nash, which would mean they would plan on amnestying Jose Calderon's $10.6 million he's owed next year.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN

"Sources say the Lakers -- as long as they retain Pau Gasol -- have an inside track to sign point guard Jose Calderon if the Raptors, as expected, must amnesty Calderon's contract to create the needed salary-cap space to sign Nash."

After that, Calderon would have to get passed on by all the teams who are already under the salary cap, per NBA rules, then he would have to clear waivers. So, it isn't a straight shot to LA, but it could be a good thing for the Lakers.

The Calderon-Gasol duo is already being dubbed the "Spanish Armada" even though it's a far cry from a done-deal. Gasol is still one of the best trading pieces the Lakers have, and a huge drain on their salary. They would have to get rid of someone like Metta, who is useful or use their amnesty on someone cheaper, like Steve Blake.
