Jose Canseco Says He Has "Stuff" on A-Rod
READ MORE:
I hate the fact I can't totally dismiss what this idiot has to say. Although he's a buffoon, desperate to get some more attention, he's likely been the most honest figure in baseball's steroid speculation. Now Canseco, in conjunction with teasing another book, says he has "stuff" on Alex Rodriguez.

In an interview with WEEI-Radio in Boston on Friday, Jose Canseco, author of the 2005 steroid tell-all "Juiced," claimed that he had "other stuff on Alex Rodriguez," that he hopes to release in a second book currently being shopped to publishers.

Canseco went on to call Rodriguez a "hypocrite," and suggested that the all-star third baseman "was not all he appeared to be."

When asked if Rodriguez had used steroids, Canseco said, "Wait and see."

Obviously he's just trying to sell a book, and what better way than to call out the games best player. Do you think there really is anything to Jose's latest claim against A-Rod? Are we certain A-Rod has accomplished his great feats naturally? Sadly, in this MLB no one is exempt from speculation and damn Canseco for being somewhat credible in this area.

There are very few players that I would be still shocked if I found out they did steroids, but I have this gut feeling that Canseco won't say that about ARod.

In the idea of selling books if you have more players that you link to steroid use then you drop hints about naming more big names. However (and my guess here) if you have "other" stuff about a big name like ARod more in the realm of cheating on his wife kind of thing then you veil it by only saying you have "stuff" on him but don't use the word steroid since that's not the claim you are making.

We've been talking about this in another thread in the Yankees League... I'm just gonna copy and paste my comment from there:

The sad thing about this current era of baseball is that everyone is under suspision, regarldless of whether they've actually cheated or not. I mean, I've often wondered about Ryan Howard (fastest player to 100 HRs) and Albert Pujols b/c of their accomplishments, but they have never failed a drug test. I'm not so naive to think that there aren't drugs out there that are undetectable -- chemists are always one or two steps ahead -- but I have no proof that anyone is doing anything illegal who hasn't failed a test since it was implemented.

That being said, I believe that Canseco is just pulling this one out of his a$$ b/c he is trying to make some more money. This would be a good time, since all eyes are on A-Rod right now, even outside NY, w/ him closing in on 500 homeruns and having the best season anyone in recent history has had.

Good point. I just assumed "stuff" meant performance enhancing drugs, but in this case, Canseco might mean something else entirely.

I hate the fact he uses a book and makes money off of it.  If you really have something to say, tell Bud Selig, or tell someone that can prove it/and punish the person.  Don't go out and publish something, which probably isn't anything about A-Rod using roids, making people buy the book.

Yea, my thought was if he has info on ARod juicing then he plugs the book as naming a player bigger than McGwire or Bonds or Sosa.

But if he just has some other more lame stuff, then he skips around the steroid word to make everyone assume that's what it is and then go buy the book.

What if Canseco says he cheated with another man? That would be more interesting.

Well lets think about the debut of this idea now compared to back then. He made money off of Juiced because everyone wanted to know about who is taking steroids. So that left a huge hype behind it But now it seems to be just a money making scandel for him to fill his pockets in the quickest way. The people who would even THINK about buying his book probably think he's full of garbage and he is just being greedy by naming someone who has shined bright this season. I do not like Canseco and I never will because I think he's too cocky for himself. He probably wont make money off of this because no one is praising the idea of his book anymore. They are shunning the idea that Canseco has legit and interesting information about him. Canseco played with Palmerro and McGwuire. Not with A-rod so I can't even imagine what personal information he has that we do not know or already assume.
