Jose Mourinho content over Real Madridís form before El Clasico at Barcelona
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho was satisfied with his side’s performance against Ajax on Wednesday. Real Madrid thrashed Ajax 4-1 in the group stage of Champions League with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a super hat-trick and Karim Benzema scoring on a bicycle kick.
Jose Mourinho told reporters that he was content with the way his men performed, but saw a lot of room for improvement. The former Chelsea manager said that his side could have further dominated the Dutch football giants.
“I liked Madrid a lot for 75 minutes, the first 45 and the second half after Ajax's goal,” Jose Mourinho said. “We had total control of the game against an opponent far from their philosophy, defensive, with their lines very deep.
“With their goal, we lost control and the game became dangerous. Then we scored the third and they knew they game was over.”
Sergio Ramos, who had a falling out with Jose Mourinho, finally returned to the Real Madrid first team. Jose Mourinho told reporters that Sergio Ramos played very well even though he had been absent from the pitch for a long time.
Real Madrid’s camp has severe trust and respect issues. Jose Mourinho admits Real Madrid’s locker room has seen much happier days. The Cristiano Ronaldo saga is another link from this chain.
“For me, he played very well,” Jose Mourinho extolled Sergio Ramos. “My job is to get a performance out of my players. He has played three very, very good games since being on the bench against Manchester City.”
Cristiano Ronaldo was exuberant over scoring his second hat-trick in four days. Real Madrid’s spectacular victory and Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick will give Los Blancos a lot of confidence heading into the El Clasico at Barcelona on Sunday.
“It is important for me to score goals, but the most important thing is the team,” Cristiano Ronaldo said. “[Barcelona] will be a difficult game, but I believe we are playing well and are confident we can get a good result.
“They have a very good squad and there is not much difference between the teams, but we have confidence.”
