Jose Mourinho hints Chelsea return as he ponders over life after Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho’s future is still shrouded in mystery. The Real Madrid manager has already admitted he may return to Chelsea at the end of the season. The Portuguese gaffer claims his next step “could be a destination where I have coached before”.
Earlier this season, Jose Mourinho hinted a return to Chelsea. The former Stamford Bridge boss has announced “after Real Madrid, England will be my next step”. This strongly points towards the possibility of Jose Mourinho returning to Chelsea.
In a recent interview to The Sun, Jose Mourinho has dropped the strongest hint that a return to Stamford Bridge might still be in the books. Jose Mourinho left Chelsea (for Inter Milan) after a misunderstanding with the club’s billionaire Russian owner Roman Abramovich.
After spending two successful years at Inter Milan, Jose Mourinho fulfilled his dream of managing Real Madrid.
“Everyone knows I have an adventurous spirit,” Jose Mourinho told The Sun. “It's not easy for my family. We'll see what happens. After England, Portugal, Italy and Spain, it's not easy to find a new destination.
“It could be a destination where I have coached before. There are things that may be about to happen no one could imagine.”
Chelsea’s interim boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed he has no intentions of extending his stay at Stamford Bridge, which means Roman Abramovich should hunting for his replacement. Rife rumors suggest Roman Abramovich is trying to find ways to make amends for his poor relationship with Jose Mourinho in order to convince him to return to the London club.
Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini is also in the mix for the Chelsea job. The former Real Madrid manager has performed well with Malaga this year, but since they aren’t expected to play in the Champions League next season, Manuel Pellegrini might agree to a switch.
Anyway, Manuel Pellegrini clearly plays second fiddle to Jose Mourinho for the Chelsea job. Therefore, Roman Abramovich will probably plotting a move to bring in the Portuguese manager.
