As if things couldn't possibly get any worse for the Mets, we now have this. Word's leaked out today that Jose Reyes nearly got into a brawl with Mets announcer, and former player, Keith "Cokehead" Hernandez this past Sunday.During Sunday's game against the Yankees Hernandez chided Reyes on air for throwing his glove to the ground moments after committing a throwing error in the seventh inning. Reyes said he threw his glove out of anger at himself and not in an effort to show up first baseman Carlos Delgado, who appeared to have a chance to catch the throw.
Reyes a baby? There's no way he's a baby. Oh wait, remember how he reacted to being taken out of a game by Jerry Manuel? HUGE baby."Well, he's got to get over that," Hernandez said. "Enough babying going on now. He's a grown man. He's been around a long enough time. Take off the kid gloves."
Anyway, Reyes took offense to Hernandez being so spot on and confronted him on the plane.
According to one account, what set Reyes off was when Hernandez allegedly responded to Reyes' concerns by saying: "I was just doing my job - you should do yours."
The two allegedly nearly came to blows and had to be separated by a group of Mets players. Which is too bad. I would have liked to have seen who would have come out on top. It'd have been even more enjoyable to hear Hernandez screaming "I'm Keith Hernandez!" while taking an elbow to the groin.
