I'm sure you remember that Josh Childress of the Atlanta Hawks decided to ditch the NBA to sign a lucrative three-year deal with Olympiakos of the Greek league. It was supposed to signal the fall of the NBA, which of course, never happened. I'm just going to forget that I was in that camp.
Anyway, how's Childress has to be the best player in the Greek league, so how's he doing?
Thanks to Hoops World, we have an update:
In his first game with Olympiakos Childress was given the game-winner . . .and missed it. It was a wide open jumper that Childress bricked, which won't surprise many Hawks fans. After all, shooting was never Childress' strong suit...
It's still early, of course, but according to a Greek journalist I correspond with regularly fans are already beginning to question Childress. In his second game he managed just nine points and in his third he recorded 14 points and five rebounds. He's not exactly off to a thrilling start.

Sounds great. By which I mean not so good. And the comment about Childress's jump shot is indeed based on fact. While Childress shot 57% from the field last season for the Hawks, according to 82games.com, he hit less than 40% when shooting jumpers. Here are some video highlights as well that you won't understand at all.
The reason why Childress's jump shot is a problem is because former Hawk Dominique Wilkins, who played in Greece, says that the Greek league is centered primarily around jump shooting. Which is bad news for Childress. But then again, so is missing a game winning jumper, and following that up with games of 9 and 14 points.
We'll see how Childress does, but at least he can always go clubbing.
And what the hell is up with those Greek courts? Damn things gave me a headache.
