Immediately after Johnny Manziel becomes a Brown, his best WR is gone

Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY SportsJohnny Manziel was undoubtedly thrilled at the idea of throwing to all-world WR Josh Gordon, even if there really weren't any other reasons to be excited about going to Cleveland to play for the Browns.

Unfortunately, Manziel might never get that opportunity, now that Gordon is facing a suspension from the NFL for violating their substance abuse policy.

Gordon reportedly tested positive for marijuana, which will result in a one-year suspension.

The Browns passed on former Clemson WR Sammy Watkins (and every other WR in the draft), despite reports that the Browns' front office knew about Gordon's impending suspension.

The coaching staff was apparently unaware. That seems like the Browns' ineptitude might not be coming to an end any time soon, if their coaching staff and front office have that sort of disconnect and lack of communication.

Assuming the various reports are true, the Browns made a serious mistake by virtually ignoring the wide receiver position, and this could be a VERY long year for Johnny Football if they can't figure out how to get him some offensive weapons.

Maybe it's their 5 year plan.
I'm with Jess, if you know doing something can potentially get you fired, then common sense says, don't do it!

I'm not trying to get onto a soapbox here, because I'm not even close to perfect - but, why is it so difficult for these players to lay off the illegal substances and even legal but banned from the NFL substances? I have a job I love...and if that job says "don't do this" I don't care if it's legal or not; if I want to keep the job, I'm not going to do it! I just don't understand. If the rumors are true about Ricardo Lockette with Kaepernick in Miami, taking bong hits, I'm not happy with him either. It's maddening.

And for Cleveland's front office not to give a heads up to the coaching staff before the draft that they just *might* need to think about getting some depth at receiver is crazy. No wonder that team is a dumpster fire. Now they don't even have Burleson either.
