Josh Smith says Dwight Howard is loyal, because apparently Smith forgot about Dwight's time in Orlando

Dwight Howard is probably going to re-sign with the Lakers. Most people agree on that, because the NBA rules allow the Lakers to pay Dwight more than any other team could pay him.

Logic dictates that Dwight, seeking the biggest contract possible, should sign with the Lakers, since no one else can offer him what they can offer. Even if it's just part of a sign-and-trade, he should sign with the Lakers before working on anything else.

Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith thinks Howard will re-sign with the Lakers, but for an entirely different reason: Because he says Dwight Howard is loyal.

Wait, what? Did he miss the part where Dwight completely destroyed the franchise that drafted him? Did he miss when Dwight raked the Magic over the coals for several seasons in a row? Or when he got his coach fired for no apparent reason?

There are lots of words that you could use to describe Dwight Howard, but "loyal" certainly isn't one of them.

Not to mention the fact that Dwight really has no reason to show any loyalty to the Lakers. He spent 8 seasons with the magic and showed no loyalty towards them whatsoever. What does he really owe the Lakers, after only 1 mediocre (thus far) season? Absolutely nothing, really.

Dwight Howard will probably re-sign with the Lakers, but let's not pretend that it will have anything to do with loyalty or any other admirable reason. He'll get more money in LA than he can get anywhere else. So that's probably where he'll end up. It's just logic.
